Elena Biserna (1982) is a researcher at Locus Sonus, École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence, and a lecturer at the Aix-Marseille Université, France. Her interests focus on liminal areas of aesthetic research dealing, in particular, with expanded sound, listening and with contextual, time-based and participatory practices in relationship with urban dynamics, socio-cultural processes and the everyday sphere.
Her articles, essays and interviews have appeared in several international publications (Les Presses du Réel, Mimesis, Le Mot et le Reste, Errant Bodies, Amsterdam University Press, etc.). She gave talks or participated in conferences at several institutions such as la Gaîté Lyrique, Palais de Tokyo and EHESS, Paris ; De Montfort University, Leicester ; Wake Forest University, Venice ; Paris 8 University, Paris ; HEAR-Mulhouse ; ENSA Bourges ; O’ Artoteca, Milan ; Centro di Cultura Contemporanea, Perugia ; Università di Bologna ; University of London ; Università IUAV, Venice ; and NABA, Milan. She taught at the Academy of fine arts of Bologna and lectured or gave seminars at RUFA-Roma University of the Arts ; ENSA Bourges ; Paris 8 University ; NABA-New Academy of the Arts, Milan. As an occasional curator, she worked with several organizations : Sant’Andrea degli Amplificatori (Bologna), Cona Zavod (Ljubljana), Xing (Bologna), Sound Threshold (London) and Digicult (Milan).
